Albert Herring synopsis:
For years the straight-laced town leaders have chosen a sweet young thing to represent pure virtue at the annual Spring Festival. This year they can’t find a girl without moral blemishes, so instead of a queen they name as “King of the May” young Albert Herring, a timid clerk in his mother’s shop. When his buddies spike his punch at the Coronation Banquet, Albert goes on an uncharacteristic bender and can’t be found the next morning — much to the dismay of the townsfolk.
